Gerade in der durch Immobilienfinanzierungen ausgelösten Finanzkrise, wurde dieser Index der Immobilienpreisentwicklung in den USA zu einer permanenten Wasserstandsmeldung herangezogen.

Man darf ohne Übertreibung behaupten, daß Shiller (dadurch) der einflußreichste Immoblienmann der letzten fünf Jahre wurde.
